01 Best Time to Visit
Botswana offers year-round appeal, but timing impacts wildlife viewing, weather, and costs:

- Dry season (May–October): Generally the best for prime game viewing. Animals concentrate around water sources, vegetation thins for better visibility, and the Okavango floods peak (great for mokoro trips). July–October is peak season—excellent for Chobe elephants, Moremi predators, and Delta water activities, but expect higher demand and hotter days in September/October.
- Green/wet season (November–April): Lush landscapes, baby animals, birdwatching, and fewer crowds. Ideal for Makgadikgadi/Nxai Pan zebra migrations or CKGR's remote feel, though rain can make roads muddy and some areas less accessible.
- Shoulder seasons (May–June or October–November): Often great value with fewer people and solid wildlife.

Book early (ideally 9–12 months ahead for peak dry season) as mobile camps fill up fast.
