Nxai Pan National Park

Nxai Pan National Park is a national park in north-eastern Botswana, consisting of Nxai Pan, which is one of the Makgadikgadi Pan salt flats. The area is surrounded mostly by vast, open grasslands. The zebra migration that arrives in Nxai Pan National Park is a big attraction between December and March each year, over the rainy season. The fossil pans of Nxai Pan offer spectacular, seasonal game viewing in the rainy season (November – March).

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

The Makgadikgadi Pans National Park, a salt pan with an area of 30,000 square kilometers is situated in the middle of the dry savannah of north-eastern Botswana. It is one of the largest salt flats in the world and forms an impressive, surreal landscape which attracts a lot of wildlife. It is also home to the world’s second largest zebra migration that takes place each year. If you love the loneliness and silence, you can really enjoy it here because even in the peak season you hardly meet people and can focus on the impressive landscape.

Okavango Delta

Covering 16,000 square kilometers of Botswana, the Okavango Delta, encompassing vast wetlands and expansive dry lands is one of the largest and most biodiverse inland deltas in the world. It is also one of Botswana’s main attractions, renowned for its meandering palm and papyrus fringed waterways, passing palm-fringed islands, thick woodland, resplendent with lush vegetation, and teeming with rich wildlife.

Moremi Game Reserve

Covering approximately a third of the eastern portion of the Okavango Delta, the Moremi Game Reserve, its tall woodlands and spreading floodplains fringed with majestic palms make it one of Africa’s most scenic wildlife areas. Probably Botswana’s most visited game reserve, it teems with many different species.

Khwai Concession

The Khwai Concession is a region in the north-eastern Okavango Delta, next to the Moremi Game Reserve and is dominated by grasslands, permanent flood plains and large areas of Mopane forests. It retrieves its name from the Khwai River that runs through the area. It is the sole source of water for miles around and is frequented by a spectacular array of game. The area used to be a hunting concession but is now actively managed by the Khwai Development Trust as a conservation area.

Mababe Depression

The Mababe Depression lies in the heart of Botswana’s most remote of wild places – the area between Maun and Savuti and starts in the vicinity of the village of Mababe approximately 115 kilometers north-east of Maun. The depression is a basin that comprises seasonal marshland, buffalo herds, and large prides of lions following in their wake.
